GROWTH OBJECTIVE
A NEW SWIM TRAINING TEAM
-
Growth Objective was founded by Isak Eliasson and Jonathan Kling.
Both of us are multiple Swedish champions in swimming, with many years of experience competing at the highest level, both nationally and internationally. Our backgrounds range from training with Swedish and international clubs and national teams, to periods where we trained completely on our own, with only ourselves as coaches. Together with Cameron McEvoy, we've developed and embraced a new kind of training philosophy, and together, the three of us have seen strong results and achieved great success with this philosophy as our guiding compass.Over the years, we’ve explored and trained under many different training philosophies, and we’ve also experienced the more complex sides of elite sports. Through both our own and others’ experiences, we’ve identified key factors that are crucial for both short-term and long-term performance and development—and no, we're not just talking about how to get from one side of the pool to the other as fast as possible (although we’re pretty good at that too), but rather the bigger picture: how to build a sustainable and balanced relationship with your sport, which in turn absolutely increases the chances of long-term growth and performance.
This is something we’re passionate about sharing. We want to make a positive impact on Swedish swimming and sports as a whole. Growth Objective is our way of taking a step in that direction—sharing our insights and experiences to help create a more sustainable and balanced path to success.

Through our own experiences, our innovative training philosophy, a strong belief in the future, and a whole lot of hard work - we know we can build a path that helps athletes truly understand what it takes to reach their goals, and provide them with the right support to actually get there. At the same time, we want our work to have a positive impact on the sport as a whole.
Our goal is to create an individual plan for every athlete in the team - based on our philosophy, combined with the athlete’s own ambitions and goals. We place high value on the holistic aspects of development, knowing how deeply they influence performance and progress. Our aim is to build a training environment and culture that supports both growth and wellbeing, tailored to each athlete’s unique needs - because we’re fully aware that peak performance is about so much more than just being in great physical shape.
That’s why we take a wide range of factors into account - sporting and personal goals, physical abilities and strengths, mental and psychosocial conditions, and individual preferences.
Simply put, we want every athlete to feel supported and confident in their ability to grow - not just in training and competition, but in life beyond the sport as well. That’s why Growth Objective is built to provide the right kind of support to help each athlete bring all the pieces of life together in a way that makes it possible to fully focus on their athletic development.
With our vision, we want to show that an athlete’s development isn’t limited by age - it’s shaped by the everyday conditions and training-specific challenges they face. And we also want to prove that an individual focus within a team structure works - and that it has a powerful impact on both progress and wellbeing.
-
Without giving away all our secrets, here’s a summary of what our training philosophy is built on:
At the core: sprinting and specificity. Our focus is fully on the shortest and fastest events in the sport.
Based on the swimmer’s individual goals - what stroke and event they want to focus on - we build a tailored training plan. We break down the athlete’s physical, technical, and mental starting point, and identify what needs to improve in order to reach those goals.
We analyze how the swimmer is functioning right now: what technical development is needed, what movement patterns and strengths need to be built, how we can most effectively train event-specific capacities, and how mental training should be structured with the end goal in mind.
We regularly use technical tools to provide immediate feedback and collect relevant data from our athletes. This allows us to constantly evaluate and refine our training approach, both in the short and long term. Using an evidence-based mindset, we aim to ensure continuous progress while safeguarding wellbeing and making space for personal growth.
There are many ways to do this - and we’re working to develop solutions that present all relevant data in a cohesive and accessible way. The goal is to create clarity and structure - so we can avoid drowning in fragmented information from all directions.
-
Growth Objective will have a dedicated project management team consistently working to build and develop the right conditions for our athletes.
Everything from income and housing, to transportation, nutrition, and job opportunities are areas where Growth Objective will actively aim to provide support and drive improvement. The goal is to create a holistic solution where every aspect of the athlete’s daily life is optimized - enabling both performance and balance.
-
We know from personal experience that combining elite sports with everyday life is a complex puzzle
- especially if the goal is to feel good and still perform at the highest level. Striking that balance without letting your mental wellbeing affect your performance is a challenge, but with many years of experience, we’ve also learned that it’s absolutely possible.Growth Objective is built on the idea that development should be the main focus - not isolated performances. There are countless areas and opportunities for growth, and it's not the time on the scoreboard at a single competition that defines you as an athlete or as a person.
To support this holistic development, we aim to work proactively with mental training and plan to include a sports psychologist as part of our team. Mental training should be just as natural and integrated in the daily structure as physical training - rather than something that’s only introduced when problems arise.
Our goal is to create a structured psychological program within Growth Objective, with clear frameworks to ensure that our mental training is aligned with the goals we’re working toward - while also making sure the sport itself doesn’t become destructive. If an athlete ever finds themselves in a negative mental spiral, there should be support available to take a step back and regain balance before stress and uncertainty take over.
It starts with the person, the athlete comes next.
-
We’re convinced that through Growth Objective, we’re building a platform where we not only develop our athletes, but also educate them meanwhile we inspire and influence young athletes to build a healthy and sustainable relationship with their sport.
To help bring this vision to life, we will run a mentorship program where team athletes regularly hold one-on-one conversations with younger swimmers - primarily from their current club, secondarily from their original club, and eventually from other clubs across Sweden.
We see this as a valuable opportunity to strengthen our athletes’ leadership skills, while also giving the younger generation a more personal and meaningful connection to their role models.
-
Based on our training philosophy, we use technical equipment and tools daily to collect times and valuable data as well as providing feedback to our athletes.
Together with our partners, we continuously work to develop and enhance systems and tools for data collection, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of what our athletes need in order to progress and reach their full potential.
By leveraging relevant data, we also aim to incorporate new solutions to automate the planning and optimization of each athlete’s individual training program. Making training as smooth of a ride as possible for each athlete and for the coaches to be able to fully focus on the athlete.
-
Athletes in the team will have clear responsibilities and commitments in order to access the support system offered within Growth Objective.
These commitments mainly include:
All athletes are expected to follow the individual plan developed in collaboration with the team’s physical, technical, and mental coaches - with the aim of creating long-term development, both in and beyond sport.
Growth Objective is built on the ambition to give back to the sport and support the next generation of athletes. That’s why we expect our athletes to actively take part in initiatives aligned with this purpose - such as our own mentorship program.
We also aim to highlight and strengthen the commercial value of Growth Objective - both as a team and for each individual athlete. Therefore, we expect team members to take an active role in the initiatives and activities that support this goal.
We do expect our athletes to collaborate closely with the team’s partners and sponsors. While athletes are free to have their own personal sponsors, these must not conflict with the team’s apparel partnerships or core sponsor agreements. -
We want to provide an alternative for swimmers who wish to pursue elite sports in Sweden without having to relocate to other countries.
Currently, there are few opportunities in Sweden to make a serious elite commitment in swimming while planning for the future - whether through a stable income from the sport itself or in combination with studies or work. This is something we at Growth Objective aim to change. Our goal here is simple: to keep swimmers in Sweden.
Through close dialogue with relevant institutions and federations, we want to create structures that enable a functional balance between training, studies, and work. The training schedule should support our training philosophy while allowing athletes to maintain a sustainable everyday life - providing enough time and energy for education and professional life if needed.
We also want to support the clubs by offering their swimmers a professional development environment - without them having to switch clubs to take the next step in their careers. Therefore, we are working to ensure that swimmers can remain with their current clubs while gaining access to the level of training and support needed for a full elite commitment.
In return, we expect swimmers to contribute back to their clubs - through mentorship, inspiration, representation, and relationship-building efforts. At the same time, we will also set certain expectations for the clubs' engagement and willingness to collaborate, ensuring their swimmers can be a part of Growth Objective.
The goal is clear: a win-win situation for both the swimmer, the club, and the sport as a whole.

To be updated …
-
Growth Objective will initially have a limited number of spots on the team - this means we’ll need to be selective in our recruitment process.
To start with, the team will be open to Swedish swimmers only.
Selection is not based primarily on past results or achievements. What matters most to us is your ambition to swim fast with a long-term perspective, your openness to train in ways you’ve haven’t trained before, and your desire to grow both as an athlete and as a person. We also place high value on your personal core values and your motivation to contribute to the swimming community.
Details on how to apply and what the selection process looks like are coming soon.
If you're interested in joining Growth Objective or want to learn a bit more about the team, just reach out! You can send us a message, email, or a short presentation via our contact details - or connect directly through Isak or Jonathan. Then we’ll take it from there!
